British artist Sophie Bayntun, has chosen her adopted home of Madeira to showcase her latest exhibition. Entitled Seven Months at The Red House, it is a personal exploration of her surroundings, which she has chosen to juxtapose with memories of the past. The large scale paintings of figures are a visual diary of her life thus far. Although they don't appear to be of anyone in particular, Bayntun has used them to represent her current emotions, mixing up past, present and future. Showing a personal response to life experiences and encounters, the show is a series of impressions which represent a place or time. Having found first impressions often causes a disparity with real life, her work draws on emotions to create the inner reality as opposed to the external surface. See the exhibition at Centro Cultural de Cascais, Av. Rei Humberto II de Itália, Cascais, Portugal until 4th November.
