Article by Sara Darling Olympic swimming champ, Keri-anne Payne has retired from swimming professionally, but is focussing on her new project Triscape which she has launched alongside husband (pro swimmer) David Carry. Aiming to promote open water swimming to people of all ages, she wants to share the thrill and freedom which you get from sea swimming, and educate newbies and improvers on how to make the most of their technique, as open water swimming is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with around 100,000 people taking the plunge 3 times a week! To coincide with this new project, Keri-anne has worked with sportswear brand Zone 3 to create a female friendly wetsuit which is both comfortable and looks good, and is ideal for getting into the open water whatever your level of fitness. Based on the bestselling Vision westsuit, this is designed for women, and is made from a premium recycled eco-neoprene which means it is as environmentally friendly as possible. With super-stretchy panels, the wetsuit is designed to be easy to get on and off (currently there is a 5 second record!!) and the metallic detail is not only body slimming, it is ideal for visibility in the water- even the subtle K's on the shoulders are there to assist your swim technique.
Having tried the wetsuit for myself at the Oasis Pool in Covent Garden, I can vouch for it's design and comfort. I might need a few more lessons in Straight Line Swimming in order to get my speed and technique up to standard, but I am definitely improving- if I say so myself.... but with only a couple of lessons under my belt, I feel more confident and less out of breath already! RRP £235.00 Check out Zone3 for more information.
