Mark Wardel, also know as 'Trade Mark' in a previous existence has a new exhibition opening. Know for his strong identified style, Wardel for this body of work had decided to use different methods to produce a repetitious narrative. The artist had to say about this work.
"In this show of new paintings and works on paper I aim to conjure an atmosphere using repetition to evoke an alienated/dystopian ambience rather than to depict specifics. My inspirations were, amongst other things...William Burroughs’s cut ups writing, David Bowie’s Berlin era froideur, the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident, possible alien visitation, contemporary street gangs, future mutation/cloning and the isolation of the human in today’s technological society. Incorporating stencilling techniques into my work for the first time has enabled me to create multiples in order to suggest the feeling of a de-personalised army or gang of ‘messengers’. Their message appears to be “WE ARE NOT ALONE” but is it a statement, a promise.....or a threat?” Exhibition 8th - 24th July The Gallery Liverpool 41 Stanhope St - Liverpool L8 5RE The Gallery Liverpool
