Imagine you get into work early as the new boss starts today, would you be excited at a new leader, nervous of what will happen, what changes they'll make, how they are as a person, or seething with anger that one of the greatest injustices for decades has reached its start.
Imagine that you've worked hard to climb the later, get to a respected company in your industry, a journey that has been hard and difficult as so many colleagues of high standard and great regard have lost their jobs, a profession that has been decimated from its once proud base and here at the front door is a man that took the job out of entitlement. That man is George Osborne, the man who has spent nearly all his working life in politics or allegedly working for his family business, one that has given him a salary while holding an interesting position on business taxation. His degree was in modern history, not journalism, he spent two decades working for the Tories and yet here he is as the new editor of the Evening Standard after his chosen career fell flat and he faced the back benches. Ha you might say, he worked as a journalist, yes on a small column for a matter of months, he was rejected by The Times and The Economist. Since then he has been involved in the ruination of this country. One aspect of his sense of entitlement has been removed, he won't be cheating his constituents now May has called the election, though he was prepared to take a full time job and leave them with little representation in the Parliament they elected him to, he won't be doing two jobs or be an MP from the 9th of June. His arrogance is born out in the idea that he could just walk into the newspaper industry to a top job and it not be an issue, the hubris that makes him think he can do a job he has no practice of or experience in, and his entitlement in believing he deserves to be there. While he is editor I will not read The Evening Standard, I won't retweet their content or share it to others. This man who has deceived and attacked so many Londoners should not be allowed anywhere near our newspaper, he has proven time and again he can't be trusted. I hope his tenure is short and the job reverts to someone who deserves it and has actually earned it. But in the mean time I also hope that the staff at the paper keep stealing his lunch from the fridge, he stole food out of many peoples mouths as Chancellor so lets see how he likes it?
