SUMMER HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS
So summer is officially here and its time to think of doing things outdoors, and invariably in the UK, this will involve festivals of some description.. Come rain or shine, there are certainly many options to tickle any musical or fancy dress exhibitionist’s taste buds- whether its heading to Cambridgeshire for The Secret Garden Party, or getting your groove on a one dayer- perhaps at east London’s Lovebox in Victoria Park.
Along with the standard wellies and pac a mac/army jacket (depending on your fashion tolerance) you will probably have the foresight to include some sunscreen, lip balm, anti bac hand wash, tissue, waterproof mascara and baby wipes. Ok perhaps I have been to one to many festivals where the lavatory facilities have left little to the imagination, but good tips none the less! And don’t forget some hayfever tablets- any extended weekend in a field brings out the pollen and the sneezes in most of us.
Clothes that can be layered might be stating the obvious- although in the ideal scenario you will be mincing around in your bikini top and shades, with your glittery cheeks glinting in the sun; But in reality, that will only be at 11 o clock in the morning, as by lunchtime the clouds would be threatening and the wellies (which thankfully work well with denim cut offs) will come in useful, as will a vest, shirt and jacket. For the fashion fabulous, festie chic works conveniently well with a waist-dangler- especially if it’s a paisley for full boho effect. And when the sun comes back out again, your sturdy Eastpak rucksack is the only place for your daily requirements, and you can stick this on, safe in the knowledge it looks cool and allows for hands free dancing.
However, there is always going to be someone out of your posse who makes lists and ticks things off prior to the gig. They are probably the person who books the tickets for you months in advance too, and claims all the loyalty points.. But I digress. But this time you can impress them if you turn up with the ABSOLUTE 2016 festival essentials: the selfie stick, the portable charger (preferably in gold bling!) and the piece de resistance- a lens selection for your mobile phone, so you can take pictures that really capture the moment- wherever you are.
I have fallen in love with the PNY accessories kit, which contains a simple to attach, range of lenses, so you can shoot wide angle, fish eye or macro. A genius idea which just attaches the lenses to your smartphone with a magnetic clip, so you can capture Instagram-envy worth images that no-one else will be able to filter (or pilfer as their own)!
And when you’re done, just pop back in the mini storage pouch, and disperse to pre-mentioned rucksack without fear of breaking glass. Speaking of glass – or glasses, it is also a pretty good idea to invest in a hard case for your sunnies. Your Mui Mui’s will thank you, as will you when they are still in one piece the next morning.
I nearly managed without a mention of the b-bag. This is a festival essential for the hardcore only. So bumbags ahoy! Ask your smug friend if she already has hers ;-)
