Article : Ross Pollard Image Selection: Simon Armstrong I bump into my Editor Chris outside Fashion Scout, the sun is shining and I’m full of the joys of the beautiful spring morning unfolding around me. He asks me what I thought of the Apu Jan collection and what I’ll write. I look at him and tell him it’s going to be really hard as all I want to do is write "OMG I LOVE IT a thousand times but I‘m a writer so there is no way I can. He usually fully backs me on anything I want to say but on this occasion he gently reminds me that isn’t what I should be doing, so how do I describe it? As you may have guessed I adored the whole collection. I’m a huge fan of his work and so glad that when he left Taiwan it was London he chose to make the home of his fashion house. We are truly blessed with the prolific amount of designers that come to London and Apu Jan is one of the brightest stars calling London home. The collection was elegance personified, sharp, chic, and beautiful with his trademark dreamlike flows running through the looks. What makes Apu Jan such a powerful designer is that he is able to mix the statement silhouette with an ease and softness that while screaming beauty also has a huge wearability about it.
The deeper hues were on display in this autumn winter collection, natural feeling greens, blues and greys mixed with hints of black and the occasional more pastel vibe, unstated maybe, but you still can’t peel any eyes away from it. One of the things I love about the Autumn/Winter season is wool and I’m happy to say once again it’s made an appearance, the soft warmness of it as fabric mixed with some tighter lines creating the fuzzy yet dramatic we all love about the colder months. I can’t wait for the first frost as I’m going to be borrowing some of these ideas for my own wardrobe. If you like our articles, don’t forget to download our latest issue or subscribe to us.
