LONDON'S FASHION DEBATES IS THE PERFECT PLACE FOR A DISCUSSION ON MODEL HEALTH
Bi-monthly, The Fashion Debates takes over The Grooming Rooms during the Spring Summer 17 schedule of shows to discuss ethical issues that affect the fashion industry, and in this season's pop up, the topic is ‘Should The UK Introduce A Model-Health Law?’
With two different viewpoints presented by model, Rosie Nelson (who was told by her agency to “get down to the bone”) in order to succeed, and is now fronting a national campaign, calling the Government to legalise and protect models.
With a completely different outlook, journalist Candice Holdsworth voices her disdain, claiming that the Government's involvement in the modelling industry is is "deeply patronising". So this promises to be a lively and topical debate.
Other panel members are Amy Williams, fashion writer (YOU Magazine, Hello! Fashion Monthly, ES Magazine) and Leni's Influencer and
Laura Watts - head scout and head of development at Leni's Model Management.
The Fashion Debates, is founded by journalist Olivia Pinnock with the intention of inspiring the public to become fashion activists. With past topics including sweatshop labour and racism, the pros and cons of self-regulation and legal regulation effect both the fashion industry and body image amongst the general public, and we should all have a say.
Following the discussion, guests are welcome to stay for free drinks during cocktail hour at The Grooming Room, usually only open to London Fashion Week VIPs.
The Grooming Room: Women’s Edit takes place over London Fashion Week and is curated as an environment for press, VIPs, celebrities and fashion influencers to relax between shows and meetings, to be pampered and to interact with fashion and grooming brands.
